ParkLake Plaza

Futureal has provided over 15 million euros of mezzanine capital to Caelum Development to finance its 50% stake in the Parklake Plaza development in Bucharest, a joint venture with Sonae Sierra.

ParkLake Plaza is a new shopping centre destination uniquely located in the heart of Bucharest and adjacent to a popular park with a boating lake. This connection with nature was used as the starting point for the design.

A dramatic copper skeletal portico faces onto the street, its colour and pattern drawing inspiration from the autumnal colours of the park and the filtered light of the tree canopies. The parkside entrance features large, fully glazed boxes that break down the boundary between the internal and external, the shopping centre and the park, while also recalling the great glass houses and winter gardens of the 19th century.

This theme is continued inside, with the interior design featuring modern interpretations of tree houses, follies, a frozen lake, a labyrinth and a winter garden.
